Moments after Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso landed from India where she was undergoing treatment that news has broken out that some top country leaders are discussing the possibility of allowing her off the hook of stressing politics.

Dr. Laboso who was moved to India from a royal UK hospital today arrived back home but it is reported that she will continue with intensive treatment in Nairobi.

As earlier reported, sources within the inner circles of the ruling party have unveiled that the stubborn disease that we are not authorized to mention has not yet allowed the Governor to resume her duties but needs close monitoring, relaxation and break from stressing environment.

” She arrived back to the country safely but unfortunately she is not yet strong enough to resume her duties. So our leadership is now considering the possibility of allowing her to relax and be free from the disturbing political environment” our source revealed

He added that the details of the ongoing discussions will come out in the coming weeks.

” Laboso is still under critical medication and she is advised to relax. Her return to the country was advised by medics as well as the government that had received overwhelming requests from senior government officials who wanted to fly to India to visit her” another source said

Article 182 of the Constitution of Kenya provides that the office of the governor becomes vacant if the holder of office dies, resigns, in writing, addressed to the speaker of the County Assembly, convicted of an offense punishable through imprisonment for at least 13 months.

It further provides that if such a vacancy occurs in the office of the county governor, the deputy governor shall assume office as county governor for the remainder of the term.

However, if the vacancy occurs and the deputy governor is unable to act, the speaker of the county assembly shall act as the county governor before a by-election is conducted within sixty days.
Owing to the recent squabbles witnessed in Bomet among the senior officers competing for powers and favours and random leaves, lay analysts say that Laboso’s exit would usher in, the end of development saying unless the DP Ruto will lead political reorganization.

To locals, the Deputy Governor Dr. Hillary Barchok, a former art teacher is a soft-spoken person who failed to bridle two controversial women at the helm of the county leadership, Jayne Sigilai and Evaline Rono who have been fighting to run the show in absence of Laboso.

An elder who has been keenly following the recent events of the county says even if Laboso will not resign, there is a need for the Deputy President to summon Bomet County government officers and local politicians and talk to them on how to shelf their political differences and unite for the sake of the development agenda.

” We are happy that Laboso is now back home. We are praying for her quick recovery because we are told that she is still set to undergo treatment.

According to the local county assembly leader of majority Josphat Kirui, the governor landed today on Sunday, but he said the governor will not resume duties immediately.
