Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso has taken one month’s leave to travel to London for specialized treatment of a fierce disease that has troubled her since she took over the leadership barely a year ago.
The leave was announced by Director of Communication Ezra Kirui who said Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok will relieve her assited by other senior officers.
“During the governor’s four-week absence her Deputy Hillary Barchok will hold brief of her. She will be assisted by County Secretary Evalyn Rono and Chief of Staff Jayne Sigilai” the report from Mr. Kirui said
In part of the report, the governor assures residents that even during her absence government functions and activities would continue normally with no interruption.
Before taking over the county leadership, the former Sotik MP was a vibrant politician in public forums and outstanding service delivery that saw her ranked among the best MPs but everything changed when soon after taking over County leadership.
According to an insider, Laboso has distressed by the ailment since she took over and has been making frequent foreign trips for specialized treatment.
“Before the sickness, our governor has been performing well but of late, she is not seen inspecting projects or in public forums. We pray for her quick recovery” a supporter said.
The informer added that the Governor has been receiving medication at a hospital in Nairobi but poor response made her seek specialized treatment in London.
Laboso’s conspicuous absence in public forums and meetings including DP Ruto’s religious and political functions in the Rift has worried locals.
One of her closest staff told famous South Rift that much is not known about the disease but she is just aware that the persistent case is serious and needs special attention.
